Board Member - Hon. Ahmed
Sheikh Baba Ahmed, a dedicated magistrate from the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, has a wealth of experience and commitment in the fight against corruption and terrorism. As a married individual and father of 10 children, he has a long-standing devotion to public service.
His education journey includes earning a Doctorate 3rd cycle form Tunis and obtaining a Magistrate diploma from ENA de Nouakchott. Throughout his 23-year career in the national justice system, Sheikh Baba Ahmed held various pivotal roles within national courts. These roles include serving as an investigating judge, President of the Civil and Correctional Courts, substituting for the Attorney General of the supreme court, Councilor of the Supreme Court, Public Prosecutor, and Head of Special Units (Sept 2010-June 2015). He served as the Director General of the Office for the Management of Frozen and Seized Assets and Criminal Asset Recovery form October 2017 to end of December 2021. He is currently serving as Chargé de mission in the office of the Minister of Justice since December 2021.
Sheikh Baba Ahmed's professional focus lies in the domains of the fight against corruption and terrorism. His commitment to these causes is further underscored by his involvement as a member of several National Commissions, including the Committee responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Convention International Anti-Corruption Initiative.
