African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption Convenes Landmark 50th Session in Arusha, Tanzania
Arusha, Tanzania – 14th November 2025 – The African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption (AUABC) is set to hold its 50th Ordinary Session from 17th to 22nd November 2025 in Arusha, Tanzania. This landmark session marks a significant milestone in the Board's ongoing mission to combat corruption and promote good governance across the African continent.
The session will bring together the Board members to deliberate on critical anti-corruption initiatives, review progress, and strategize for the future. Key agenda items for the 50th Session include:
- Swearing-in of Five Newly Elected Board Members: The session will commence with the official inauguration of four new members, who will bring fresh perspectives and expertise to the Board's vital work.
- Adoption of the Minutes of the 49th Ordinary Session: The Board will formally adopt the records of its previous meeting, ensuring continuity and procedural integrity.
- Activity Report of the Bureau: The Bureau of the Board will present a comprehensive report on its activities and decisions since the last session.
- Progress Report on the 2025 AUABC Work Plan: Members will receive and discuss a detailed update on the implementation of the Board’s strategic work plan for the current year, assessing achievements and addressing challenges.
- Update on the Development of a Harmonized Code of Conduct: A pivotal discussion will focus on the progress made in developing a continental framework for a harmonized code of conduct for public officials, a key tool for preventing corruption.
- AUABC’s 17th Activity Report to the Executive Council: The Board will finalize its 17th comprehensive activity report, which will be submitted to the AU Executive Council, detailing its efforts and impact.
- Report and Discussion on the Annual African Anti-Corruption Day: The session will feature a review of the recent commemoration of African Anti-Corruption Day (July 11) and plan for future observances to amplify the continent's anti-corruption message.
The Chairperson of the AUABC, Hon. Kwami Edem Senanu, emphasized the importance of this session: "Our 50th Ordinary Session is not just a numerical milestone; it is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the African Union to root out corruption. As we welcome new members and review our strategic progress, we are reinvigorated in our mandate to foster transparency, accountability, and integrity for the prosperous future Africa deserves."
The AUABC remains dedicated to promoting and encouraging the adoption of anti-corruption measures by Member States, in line with the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption (AUCPCC).
