On Wednesday December 15, 2021 the Executive Secretary AUABC Ms Charity Nchimunya had the honour of recieving a delegation from the Forum of Parliaments of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR).
The delegation was led by the Secretary General (SG), Hon. Amb. Onyango Kakoba who heads the Secretariat. He was accompanied by the Accounts Officer from the Secretariat, Mr. Jean Marie Baafa Nkong'oto.
The delegation alongside the Executive Secretary appraised each other on the background, objectives and functions of our respective institutions and explored areas of common interest especially as relates to the promotion of democracy and good governance.
The discussions held were on how both institutions can leverage on each other's comparative advantage and the possibility of signing an MoU to formalize interactions. As AUABC, we implored the Secretary General to call on Members States of the FP-ICGLR who are not yet States Parties to the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating corruption to ratify the Convention.
The Forum of Parliaments of Member States of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR) is an inter-parliamentary organization that brings together Parliaments of 12 Member States, namely: Angola, Burundi, Kenya, Central African Republic (CAR), Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, and Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.
