The African Union Advisory Board on Corruption (AUABC) has kicked off a country review and assessment mission in the Republic of Burkina Faso, to evaluate the measures by the Government of Burkina Faso to prevent and address the vice of corruption.

The AUABC will be briefed on the domestication and implementation of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption (AUCPCC) by the government and other stakeholders as well as exchange on experiences and best practices by other Member States on the fight against corruption.

AUABC has been keen on continuously supporting member states build strong and well-functioning institutions and human capacities in the public and private sectors as well as the civil societies in a bid to strengthen transparency and accountability, and fighting corruption as a means to improve good governance.

Mrs. Wendyam Kabore, leading the assessment Working Group on the Burkina Faso Evaluation Report, underscored the need for the Review mission and encouraged collaboration among the key stakeholders in the anti-corruption landscape of Burkina Faso in its efforts to conduct the self-assessment on the compliance with the Convention.

Andriamifidy Jean Louis, AUABC Chairperson stated that the main objective of the review is to identify and share experiences on what is working, the good practices as well as identify challenges in the fight against corruption and draw practical recommendations on addressing the challenges and sustainably mitigate and end corruption.

During the country assessment mission, the AUABC will meet with different actors including the government agencies, the Media, and the Non-State actors.
