September 2018 started off on a high with Hon Begoto Miarom, the Chairperson of the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption attending the Regional Youth Consultation for West and Central Africa in Dakar, Senegal.
In his remarks as part of the High level panel opening the meeting in Dakar, Senegal – he said the following :
• We need an Africa, whose development is population centered with great emphasis on inclusion of women and young people.
• The youth are direct victims of this corruption plague and therefore must be involved in the fight for us to achieve better results.
• Much is being done with regard to the fight against corruption, and much remains to be done with regard to prevention, it is at this level that young people need to intervene because they are next leaders.
• Insecurity and terrorism in the West & Central Africa are all direct consequences of corruption. Corruption has had and continues to have a huge impact on Africa. Terrorism and insecurity are direct consequences of corruption.
