Today, the President of the Congolese Association for Access to Justice (ACAJ), Mr. Georges Kapiamba paid a courtesy visit to the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption (AUABC) where he met with the Executive Secretary, Mrs. Charity Nchimunya. He was accompanied by the Advocacy Officer while Mrs. Nchimunya also had a team of AUABC Secretariat Staff with her.

The courtesy call was made in order to understand more on the mandate and functions of the Board and how the ACAJ can effectively engage the AUABC. The discussions were centered on Article 12 of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption (AUCPCC) with respect to the role of CSOs and NGOs in promoting the fight against corruption. Further, discussions also touched on how the Board is tackling Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) through promoting the implementation of the Common African Position on Asset Recovery (CAPAR). The ACAJ affirmed its support to the fight against corruption as corruption is a deterrent to better access to justice and socio economic development. The two parties have agreed to work closely together by signing an MoU with specific areas of collaboration to enhance implementation of their respective mandates.
